More Than Money: How Scott Chapman Built a Business That Changes Lives

The best businesses solve a real problem for real people. Scott Chapman's does exactly that — but he'll be the first to tell you he didn't start out chasing purpose. He got there the hard way.

On episode 8 of the SHFT Pod, Dan and Erin sat down with Scott — an entrepreneur whose journey runs from chasing ego in the corporate world to building ventures that genuinely change lives.

From ego to purpose

Scott is refreshingly honest about the early part of his story: the failures, and the years spent chasing status and validation rather than meaning. It's a familiar trap — measuring success by the title, the numbers, the ego — and one a lot of ambitious people fall into before they realise it isn't making them happy. For Scott, the shift came when he started building things that actually helped people.

When business becomes “more than money”

That's the heart of the episode: the idea that a business can be a force for good and a viable venture at the same time — that doing well and doing good aren't opposites. Scott has built across industries, from a run of restaurants to his current mission, but the throughline is the same. The most fulfilling thing you can build is something that leaves people better off.

Able Digital Wellness: a business that changes lives

Nowhere is that clearer than in Able Digital Wellness, the company Scott co-founded. Inspired in part by his own nephew, who lives with an intellectual disability, it's a wellness platform built specifically for people with disability — bringing together exercise, nutrition and mental wellbeing in one holistic approach, developed alongside exercise physiologists, occupational therapists and universities. It's a genuine example of a business designed, from the ground up, to help people live happier, healthier lives.

Scott's story is a powerful reminder that the “why” behind what you build matters as much as the what. Watch or listen to Scott Chapman's SHFT Pod episode, and learn more about the work at Able Digital Wellness.
